Fred Enriquez Obituary

Fred "Pancho" Enriquez passed away on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at Mesilla Valley Hospice. He was born Jan. 16, 1957, to Manuel and Teresa Enriquez in Las Cruces New Mexico. He attended Lucero Elementary, Alameda Junior High and Mayfield High School. Throughout his school years, he excelled in many sports. He was well-known for his leadership ability as the quarterback for the Mayfield Trojan football team. He also played second base and was a great hitter for the Mayfield baseball team. He was Homecoming King during his senior year at Mayfield High School. One of his greatest accomplishment at Mayfield was being named "The Greatest Trojan" for the class of 1975. Fred later made his way to Everett, Washington, where he made his new life and made many new friends. He worked several jobs before landing his lifetime career of 32 plus years with the U.S. Postal Service in Lynnwood, Washington. During this time, Fred found a new passion for the game of golf. Fred loved to remind his friends that he was able to golf 365 days of the year, as a retiree. He would often give out silver dollars to those he knew. It became his trademark, which landed him the name "The Silver Dollar Man."

Fred is survived by five siblings, Rose E. Zamora of Las Cruces, Joe P. (Monica) Enriquez of Austin, Texas, Sylvia P. Enriquez and Dioselina E. (Ramon) Archuleta, of San Antonio, Texas, and Victor M. Enriquez of Las Cruces. Fred leaves behind his best friend and his family from Everett, Clair and Mary Denike, and their daughter, Adriana. He also leaves behind his girlfriend and companion, Katy "Goldie" Woods, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister-in-law, Tami Franich-Enriquez and his brother-in-law, Arnold L. Zamora.

Services will take place at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church on Mesquite Street, on Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at 10 a. m. for prayer of the rosary and 11 a.m. for the resurrection Mass. Fellowship-reception will follow at Immaculate Heart of Mary. Cathedral, Finley Hall. Cremation will take place at a later date and his cremated remains will be returned to his beloved state of Washington for his final resting place. Pallbearers will be Joe Enriquez, Victor Enriquez, Robert Romero, Hector Diaz, Jacqueline Zamora and Caroline Zamora. Honorary pallbearers Clair Denike and his co-workers from the U.S. Post Office in Lynnwood, Washington. For online condolences go to www.lapaz-grahams.com

To Joe and and all of Fred's Family and Friends: I am so sorry for your loss. I have thought of Fred many times over the years, and kept him in my prayers. What a beautiful spirit did Fred have! Everyone had a "special" relationship with him. He made sure of it. There was just that much to go around. I found out today that he's gone now from the physical world. Yet, I still see him clearly - His laugh and his manner, seemingly always above the pressure and fray of it all, and enjoying every experience.
