Silverio Sedillo

1940 - 2017

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many, Silverio (Silver) J. Sedillo, 77, of Las Cruces, NM, left his dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be with his heavenly Father on August 4, 2017, in Las Cruces, NM, surrounded by his loving family.

Silverio was born to Gregorio T. and Gregoria T. Sedillo on June 20, 1940, in Monticello, NM. He served his country in the Armed Forces of the United States in the Army Reserves. Silverio retired from White Sands Missile Range, NM, after 35 years of civil service as an Electronics Technician. He served his community in Dõna Ana and at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church. Silverio was all about family from an early age, which grounded him throughout his life. A favorite past time was attending his children's and grandchildren's many sports activities. Silverio could always be counted on to help a family member or friend in need and expected nothing in return. Silverio's proudest accomplishment is the family he left behind.

Those left to mourn his passing include wife, Esperanza Sedillo. Four sons, Robert Sedillo and wife, Dacia; David Sedillo and wife, Yvette; Mark Sedillo; and Richard Sedillo and wife, Ruby. Four daughters, Dolores Vega and husband, Dennis; Angelica Mares and husband, Michael; Cecilia Sedillo; and Yvette Gardea and husband, Gerardo. Three stepsons, Jacques Telles and wife, Laura; Mahonri Telles; and TJ Telles and wife, Mayra. Grandchildren, Jacob, Audrey, and Amber Sedillo; Victoria, Sienna, and Adonika Sedillo; Alyssa and Damian Sedillo; Stephen and Savannah Mares; Nikayla Rios and husband, Jesus; Nikolas Melendez; Armando and Layla Gardea; Israel and Shoshana Telles; and Riley Telles. Great-grandchildren, Aliannah Rios and Javery Sedillo. Sisters, Susa Calderon, Lydia Provencio, Julia Sedillo and Raiden Mares. Additionally, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Adelina Sedillo and Avenicio Sedillo; and grandson, Erik Sedillo.

His life will be celebrated by a gathering on August 25, 2017, 5:00 p.m., Getz Funeral Home, followed by the rosary at 7:00 p.m. A memorial mass is scheduled for August 26, 2017, 11:30 a.m., St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina Street, 88001. Rite of Committal for his cremains will follow at the Dõna Ana Cemetery, 601 Dõna Ana School Rd, 88032.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Robert Sedillo, David Sedillo, Mark Sedillo, Richard Sedillo, Jacob Sedillo, and Armando Gardea.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute donations in honor of Silverio J. Sedillo to the Mesilla Valley Community of Hope, Mesilla Valley Hospice, or Cowboys for Cancer Research.
