Tomasa Montoya Obituary

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Tomasa "Tomasita" Montoya, 97, entered eternal life Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at her home that she loved so much surrounded by her loved ones. She was born July 4, 1915 in Durango, Mexico to Mr. Wencoslado Gonzales & Mrs. Juana Maria Garcia. Tomasita Montoya came to Las Cruces, N.M. in the early 1970's to work for a better future. Throughout her life she always helped her parents, siblings, her children and those that surrounded her survive hard times throughout their lives. She was known to speak her mind and maintain a positive attitude; she lived a peaceful life and always fought for what meant the most, her family. She instilled a lot of good qualities in her children, grand children and those that surrounded her. She will be deeply missed. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, husband Jose Montoya, and a total of 11 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving sisters, Ma. Josephina Gonzales and Concepcion J. Garae; her only two living children, daughter Olivia Enriquez and son Luis Gonzales of Las Cruces. She also has four grand children, Clara and husband Steve Miller of Austin, Texas, Jose and wife Cecilia Enriquez of El Paso, Texas, Rocio and husband Gust Karmeris of Las Vegas, Nev., and Michael Enriquez of Las Cruces; including her close nieces and nephews; Josephina and Arturo Rodriguez, Rosario and Robert Olea. She also is survived by eight great-grand children; Christina, Marissa, Nathaniel, Anthony, John Paul, Joshua Arias, Daniel Ray, Briana, Etteilla and David; great nieces and nephews; Arturo Jr. and Josephina, Andres. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 from 5-7p.m. with a Prayer Vigil at 7 p.m. at Getz Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Getz Funeral Home.
