Ernest W. Risser NEWMANSTOWN Ernest W. "Ernie" Risser, 57, died Monday, September 8, 2014, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Born in Myerstown, on October 18, 1956, he was the son of the late Edward H. and Margaret (Miller) Risser. Ernie attended ELCO High School until the 11th grade and graduated from Cedar Crest the following year in 1974. He owned and operated Ernie Risser's Family Restaurant, Womelsdorf, for 35 years. He was previously employed by the Country House Restaurant, Myerstown. A member of Myerstown U.C.C., Ernie was a faithful supporter of local fire companies and organizations, enjoyed attending softball games during his younger years, and was known for always helping others. He is survived by brothers, David C., husband of Lynne Risser of Myerstown, Henry E., husband of Brenda Risser of Myerstown, Hubert G., husband of Barbara Risser of Richland, and Dennis M. Risser of Newmanstown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Ronald A. and James R. Risser. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Myerstown U.C.C., 306 W. Main Ave., Myerstown. Visitation Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, and Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
