ANNVILLE Fern I. Bowman, 85, of 899 Palmyra-Bellegrove Road, died Thursday, January 6, 2011, in the Hershey Medical Center. She was the wife of Richard E. Bowman, with whom she celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in October, 2010. Born in Millerstown, on July 7, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John and Elsie Paden Maurer. In her earlier years, she was a Bell Telephone operator and then became a full time homemaker. Fern was a graduate of Millerstown High School in 1943. She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, Annville, and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 1150, Lebanon. She was a loving and caring wife. Surviving are four sons, Richard Bowman, Jr. and wife, Marie of Annville, James Bowman and wife, Denise of Annville, David Bowman of Annville, and Gary Bowman of Jonestown; two daughters, Barbara, wife of Donald Brown of Fredericksburg, and Karen Lee of Charleston, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was the last member of the Maurer Family. She was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Kenneth, Irvin, and Melvin Maurer; and a sister, Mary Harp. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 11, at 12 noon from the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home with Eastern Star services beginning at 10:50 a.m. Contributions may be made to the Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, 710 S.
