Ramon Musheno Obituary

Ramon Gantz Musheno

Lebanon - 1930-2020

Ramon Gantz Musheno, of Lebanon, PA, passed peacefully at home with family on Dec. 29, 2020 at the age of 90. He was a cherished father, grandfather, great grandfather, professional violinist and award-winning ad man.

In addition to four decades in a successful career in advertising, as the owner of RG Musheno Associates, a full-service agency he founded in 1959 , he was a professional violinist who performed in the White House for two U.S. presidents, Eisenhower and Bush Jr. During the '90s and early 2000s he performed at many distinguished events in Washington, D.C. with the US Air Force Strolling Strings. He began performing in elementary school, became third in the state during his high school years and later performed with the U.S. Air Force Symphony touring Northern Europe. He was a 20-year member of the Hershey (PA) Symphony Orchestra and he also performed as a strolling violinist at nursing homes, weddings and hospitals. Ray was honored to be a member of the Lebanon County Music Hall of Fame.

His award-winning advertising agency, the first in Lebanon, served a wide variety of local, regional and national clients representing many brand-name consumer products and professional services from shopping centers, hotels and restaurant chains to insurance firms and banks. In later years he specialized in outdoor advertising. He and his loyal associate, Ann Geist, of Hershey, retired from the agency in 2018.

He is survived by his four daughters, Susan Carol, of Fredericksburg, VA, Joy A. Riley (husband Pat), and Catherine R. Shaak (husband Fritz), of Lebanon; and Kim E. Musheno, of Silver Spring, MD, their mother Joyce A. Daub, of Myerstown, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was devoted to his daughters and their children, often organizing trips to Hershey Park, Mt. Gretna and various seashore resorts. He was a proud fan at many special events and shows in which the children were active. He was also a long-time member of the Lebanon Country Club.

Ray is survived by his brother, John Musheno, and nephew, Randy Musheno, both of Lebanon and predeceased by his brother, Jim Musheno, and sister, Helen Rechter.

He will be remembered as being loving, supportive and fun with wisdom and generosity to his family and friends. He never forgot a birthday or special occasion to recognize someone's achievement or special day.

Ray was a 1948 graduate of Lebanon High School where he met Dorothy Eberly, of Myerstown, and who has been a companion for the past 13 years. He attended the Harrisburg Academy and Penn State University before starting his family in 1955.

A date and place for a celebration of his life will be announced once family and friends can attend safely. Ray's cause of death was due to complications from COVID-19.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Hershey Symphony in Ray's name would be appreciated. Mail to: P.O. Box 93, Hershey, PA 17033.
