Ruth Wiest Obituary

HERSHEY Ruth Mana (Dowdrick) Wiest, 71, passed away with family by her side on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, in her home. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Robert L. Wiest, Sr., in April of this year. She was born Sunday, December 22, 1940, in Lebanon, to the late Benjamin and Mabel (Miller) Dowdrick. Ruth was a homemaker and was passionate about keeping a meticulous home. She enjoyed making various types of crafts and spending time tending to her flowers in her gardens. Ruth loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their various activities. Most importantly she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by one daughter, Teresa Bleiler and husband, Randy of Palmyra; one son, Robert "Spike" Wiest, Jr. and wife, Savon of Palmyra; four grandsons, Jason Bleiler and wife, Trisha, Matthew Bleiler and wife, Kristen, and Christopher and Zachary Bleiler; two granddaughters, Amanda and Ariel Wiest; two great-grandsons, Logan and Luke Bleiler; two brothers, Donald Speck and wife, Barbara, and Benjamin Dowdirck and wife, Catherine; a sister, Nancy Stamm; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her loving husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Dowdrick. Family and friends are invited for viewing on Monday, September 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 11, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with The Rev. H. Richard Barley, II officiating. A viewing will also be held Tuesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to Compassionate Care Hospice, 1513 Cedar Cliff Drive, Suite 100, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
