Vera E. Eckert

Vera E. Eckert, 94, of 1521 Sholly Ave., Lebanon, died Sunday, September 28, 2008, in the Good Samaritan Hospital. She was the wife of the late Richard Eckert. Born in Cressona, Pa., on May 31, 1914, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence Becker Schartel. She was a retired telephone operator at Indiantown Gap Military Reservation, and was a member of The Church of St. Cecilia. She was an accomplished pianist. Surviving are four children, Ronald Eckert, Maureen Brubaker, Susan Slaven and Gerald Eckert; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Leo Schartel; and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Louise Miller; and several brothers and sisters. Graveside services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 on Holy Cross Cemetery.
