Eunice Irene "Bunnie" Anderson

1926 - 2024

Stoughton, WI - The Milwaukee Brewers lost their biggest fan when Eunice "Bunnie" Anderson went peacefully to our Lord on July 20, 2024, surrounded by her family and Skaalen Assisted Living and Agrace staff. Eunice was born in Madison, WI, on November 10, 1926, to Lennie and Marion Bronte, and grew up with her four brothers on their family farm in Pleasant Springs, WI. She participated in 4-H for many years and represented Dane County at the Stoughton Junior Fair. She graduated from Stoughton High School in 1944 and furthered her studies at Columbia County Teachers College, Whitewater Normal School, and the University of Wisconsin. After college, Eunice taught elementary grades at Liberty School for two years and then was hired to be the principal at Morrisonville Grade School. She met the love of her life, Marvin Anderson, from Rio, WI, in 1945, and they were married at West Koshkonong Lutheran Church in Stoughton on August 17, 1947. In 1951, Marvin and Eunice moved to Baltimore, MD, where he was stationed for two years as a member of the U.S. Army Counterintelligence Corps and Eunice taught 4th grade. After returning to Wisconsin, Eunice and Marv raised a family of seven children in Madison, Monona, and Stoughton. She continued to teach and was treasurer for Marv's auto dealership, Anderson-McGinley, in the early days of its operations. Eunice was also a lifelong parishioner of West Koshkonong Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Mary Circle and Call Committee.

Eunice's pride and joy was her family and she loved watching it grow. She treasured being with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids and was always the first to call to sing them "Happy Birthday" each year. In addition to her family, Eunice spent many happy hours with her wonderful friends having a meal, playing cards, enjoying fellowship at church, or just chatting about what was happening in their lives. Eunice also had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed travelling the world with Marv, visiting relatives near and far, and taking fun trips with her kids and their families over the years, which included an Alaskan cruise and a ride in a hot air balloon at age 84. Eunice loved listening to classic country music and was excited to meet many of her favorite country artists and other celebrities through sons Kevin and Ken. A prized possession was a photograph of her and Kevin with President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter. Eunice took pride in her time as a teacher, and she stayed in close touch with many of her former students. She was thrilled that school records she kept from her early teaching days showcasing her impeccable penmanship are on display at the DeForest Historical Society. And Eunice will forever be remembered for her love of chocolate, and one of her favorite pastimes was taking car rides down the country roads around Stoughton, reminiscing about the past with an Autumn Pearl Big Train Mocha or Culver's chocolate shake in her hand.

Eunice is survived by Bonnee (Pete) Nelson, Austin, TX; Robin (Sami) Khalaf, Tulsa, OK; Keith (Tammy) Anderson, Round Hill, VA; and Kenneth (Sue) Anderson, Monroe, WI; her 10 grandchildren, Ryan (Francie) Khalaf, Shane (Kalyn) Khalaf, Tyler (Jess) Anderson, Justin (Corinne) Anderson, Lucas (Catherine) Anderson, Jacob (Marissa) Anderson, Nicole (Russadell) Buzard, Drew (Jessica) Nelson, Samantha Jo Suddeth, and Brandon Suddeth; 12 great grandchildren; brother David Bronte, sisters-in-law Joycelyn Lienke, Shirley Benzine, and Elsa Bronte; many nieces and nephews, and loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 48 years, Marvin, sons Steven and Kevin, daughter Beth Suddeth, and brothers Robert, Eldon, and Lennie Bronte.

A Celebration of Life for Eunice will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at West Koshkonong Lutheran Church, 1911 Koshkonong Road, Stoughton. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. presided over by Rev. Eric Bakken and Eunice's nephew, Mark Anderson. Following the burial, a luncheon will be served in the church basement from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the West Koshkonong Endowment Foundation and Agrace.

Eunice's family would like to extend its deepest thanks to Skaalen, Agrace, and Dr. Albert Musa for their wonderful care of Eunice, and the staff at Autumn Pearl for their delicious Big Train Mochas, aka "the Eunice Special."
