John Urso Obituary

John G. Urso Nacogdoches, TX - John Gilbert Urso, age 80 of Nacogdoches, Texas, formerly of Idaho Springs CO, and McFarland, WI passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, peacefully with his wife LouAnn and his son Kevin by his side. He was born on August 4, 1943, in Madison, WI, son of John Sr and Elaine (Derr) Urso.

John graduated from Monona Grove High School, then joined the family business Capital City Tree Experts working alongside his parents and eventually his children. John was not only a boss but a lifelong friend to their employees who became his extended family. John met LouAnn Colvin while they worked together at the Casinos in CO where he worked security. They were married on July 27, 2002, in Evergreen, CO. They continued to reside in Idaho Springs until their recent move to Nacogdoches, Texas.

John shared his love for Harleys with LouAnn. They made several cross-country trips to visit family and friends. John was a giving and patient person, whether it was teaching his kids and their friends to water ski on Lake Delton, driving the family camper to Colorado for yearly ski trips, or he and LouAnn opening their home in the Colorado mountains at any given time; there was always room for everyone. John was a prankster, loved a practical joke or playing one on you. He enjoyed watching old westerns, his favorite being John Wayne. He always thought of himself as a cowboy but was born in the wrong century.

John is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, LouAnn; three sons: Kevin (Eileen) (and their children Kolton (Elizabeth), Kalahan (Harley), and Sydney), Cain (Robin) (and their children: Chanel, Cheyanne (Kyle) and Cale), Corey (and his children: Jackson, Nicholas and Olivia); stepchildren, Tammy Young (and her children Alyssa and Shelby); and Chuck's children, Mackenzie and Hannah; and 4 great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents; and stepson Chuck Barbour.

Special thanks to LouAnn's niece, Shere, and her husband, Andy Beguin for the kind and special care of John.

To my husband, you are loved and will be missed, but in my heart forever. Thanks for a lifetime of love and memories.

To honor John's wishes, no services will be held. We invite you to privately celebrate John's memory in your own way. Whether it be a Coke or Korbel and Coke, know that he will be with us all in spirit.

John was a kind and generous man. When I moved to Colorado, he allowed me and my boyfriend at the time to live at his house. It was amazing and I´m sure he will be missed by everyone who he has ever touched in their life.

You and I have known each other since you were born Johnny. Even tho I am 3 years older than you, but you and I spent a lot of growing up years together. Since you were a toddler and you lived in Bristol, to all the many summers spent on your mom's farm she grew up on. We may have lost touch over the years but reconnected once again. Will miss you singing Happy Birthday to me with a phone call every year. I will never forget how you called daily when Fred was so sick, rest in peace my cousin and friend. You will be missed.

I remember John well. He was a cousin by marriage. He was an interesting guy and always had a smile on his face and a cigarette in his hand! Rip old friend.
