Marjorie Erickson Obituary
Marjorie (Martin) "Margie" Erickson Boerne, TX - Marjorie "Margie" Erickson passed away on August 18, 2025, in Boerne, Texas, one day after her 83rd birthday. She was a devout Christian, devoted teacher, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Services will be held at St Johns Lutheran Church - 413 E.Madison St, Waterloo at 11:00am with a luncheon to follow.
Born on August 17, 1942, and raised in London, Wisconsin, Marjorie graduated from Cambridge High School in 1959. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater, earning her bachelor's in teaching in 1964. That August, she married LaVerne "Vern" Erickson, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Wisconsin.
With Marjorie teaching at Waterloo public school, they decided to live there and eventually bought a home. She would go on to teach at various schools before ending up at Trinity Lutheran grade school in Orange, CA. There she taught pre-school through 4th grade for twenty years before retiring in 2005. She would see some of her students years later as adults, or receive letters from them. The feelings they expressed were always the same. She was a terrific teacher who made a difference in their lives.
She and Vern welcomed their son, Eric, in 1968 and their daughter, Jeni, in 1972. In 1983, Vern's work with AT&T moved the family to Southern California, where they lived in Anaheim. Marjorie would live there for forty years before moving to Boerne, Texas with the rest of her family in late 2023.
She is preceded in death by her husband Vern (2006), father Elmer (1992), mother, Mildred (2009) and brother Wayne (2024). She is survived by her son, Eric (Tracy) Erickson, daughter, Jeni (Jeff) Gishwiller, her brother, Gordy (Karen) Martin, sister, Deb (Larry) Braatz, and Roberta and Chad Mott whom she loved as a daughter and son. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Kaitlin (Brady) Lastinger, Marriah Gishwiller, and Emma Erickson. In addition, she is remembered by her friends and church family too numerous to list here.
A memorial for Marjorie will be held at St. John's Lutheran in Waterloo, at 11:00am on Saturday September 27 with a luncheon to follow.
She was a wonderful mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
