Theodore J. Hubacher

1959 - 2025

Lake Mills, WI - Theodore J. Hubacher, of Lake Mills, was born Jan. 22, 1959, in Postville, Iowa, to Robert and Nancy (Schweikert) Hubacher. Ted passed away peacefully on Oct. 15 (age 66) at University Hospital in Madison, surrounded by family.

He was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa, and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. He attended Lake Mills High School, class of 1977, participating in football, wrestling, tennis, FFA, and also enjoyed playing the tuba in band.

Ted embraced his entrepreneurial spirit in his work life as a landscaper, tree trimmer, and construction worker. He was always ready to assist wherever needed at the family business, Lake Mills Locker, where his presence was deeply valued. Ted had a high sense of adventure and loved his travels in Arizona and California, where he met many lifelong friends. He was always willing to help anyone in need and lend a hand whenever he could. He had a wicked-sharp memory for details and directions - no maps were needed. There was always a story to share that matched the topic at hand, often drawing from his own memories or past adventures. Ted's zest for life and sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Ted is survived by his daughter, Lydia Hubacher, his mother, Nancy Hubacher, and his sisters Heidi (Jim) Kabat and Heather (Wayne) Meier. He is further survived by nieces Claire (Brian) Johnson and Trisha (Josh) Beer, and by nephews Kyler (Jenny) Kabat, Kaden (Alli) Kabat, and Sam Meier. His great nieces and nephews will also miss their "Uncle Teddy." They are Mulu, Aalijah, Aria, Kedzi, Noah, Oliver, Kyson, Capri, Emerson, and Mara.

Ted was preceded in death by his father, Bob, and his brother, Tim.

Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 346 W Pine St. in Lake Mills, on Saturday, Nov. 8, visitation from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The service will follow at 11 a.m.
