Alvin Haden Obituary

Alvin Von Haden

September 6, 1944 - July 23, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alvin John Von Haden of Eau Claire, WI. He was loving father, loyal friend and gentle soul who left us on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the age of 80.

Alvin was the kind of man, who if he found you in need, would give the shirt off his back without a second thought. His heart was generous, his presence calming, and his friendship unwavering.

Known for his quiet strength and kind spirit, Alvin made everyone around him feel cared for and welcome.

Alvin was born September 6, 1944 to Ernest and Esther (Shong) Von Haden. He grew up on Forest Street along the Chippewa River where he spent time exploring and developing his love for the water.

Alvin was an avid fisherman-he wasn't just passionate, but was truly talented and gifted. It was not uncommon for him to catch fish in a hole, where someone else in that same hole - at the same time, had no luck at all. He found peace and was his happiest when on the water spending time with his friends and family.

Alvin's children and grand children hold fond memories of the days spent fishing off Grandpa's pontoon and passing time sitting around the campfire at his camper up at the lake.

Alvin served his country with pride in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1970, working as a Tactical Communications Chief. He was stationed in Germany and earned the Marksman, Good Conduct, and National Defense Service medals. By the time of his honorable discharge, he had reached the rank of Sergeant (E5). His family remembers him for his dedicated service and quiet strength.

Alvin is preceded in death by his father, Ernest, and his mother Esther; his sister Ann Gregory, his sister Jean Fedie, his sister Evelyn Von Haden, and his sister Agnes Gierok. Alvin is survived by his sister Agnus.

Alvin is loved by his and Louise Von Haden's children: Eugene and Sarah (Harmsen) Von Haden and their son Simeon and Celena (spouse) Von Haden; daughter Marilla Von Haden; son Jubal and Melony (spouse) Von Haden and their son Theodore. Elsa and Riley (spouse) Doerflinger and their daughter Georgia; son Reuben Von Haden, and daughter Andrea Von Haden. Joe Von Haden and Kristen Lasher; Joe's son Maddox Von Haden; Kristen's daughters Brenna, Annika, and Teagan Lasher. Cheryl Von Haden and her children Dana and Tyler (spouse) Davis and their children Justin, Harmony, and Adrian; Steven Von Haden and his children Wyatt, Sophia Zachary, Gabriella, and Bennett; Jason (JR) Champagne and his children Avery, Natalie, and Zekiel; Alvin and Elyssa (spouse) Champagne.
