Andrew Berg Obituary

Andrew "Andy" J. Berg, age 41, of Eau Claire, died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, December 4.

On February 17, 1983, Andy was born as the first child to Leslie "Les" and Lori (Byington) Berg. He was a class of 2001 graduate of Memorial High School and received a Bachelors of Science degree in Information and Communication Technologies from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Andrew committed his life to doing things that matter for the many people and communities he was devoted to.

Starting in his early years as a youth hockey coach, he found purpose in using his natural skills and talents to help, teach and serve others. Andy humbly served as a Northstar PTSA committee chair member and as a mentor for middle school students. People were easily drawn to him because of his playful humor and charismatic charm. He prided himself on helping others, whether it was opening his home to foster kids, bringing recovery programming to the Chippewa County Jail, or simply coming to the aid of a Northstar employee to fix a broken shoe (on more than one occasion).

Throughout the years, Andrew was an avid hobby collector; often quick-to-master challenges, such as trail running, ultra-marathons, mountain biking, unicycle riding, league bowling, and skiing the Birkebeiner.

However, these hobbies subsided when he found his true passion: disc golf. Andy was naturally apt in his ability to perform tasks. While he enjoyed the thrill of conquering new feats, what mattered most to him were the enduring relationships he built along the way and continued to hold dear.

In addition to his community involvement, Andrews's loyalty to his career also brought long-lasting relationships. When he began working at Midwest Dental in 2007, he established a core group of colleagues who collectively navigated many company changes, including the transition to Smile Brands. Andy's dedication and hard work led to a promotion as a senior manager of IT Field Engineering, a role he found fulfilling.

Andrew loved many and he loved hard. Above all, his heart belonged to his adoring children, who have become his legacy. They will remember him most fondly as "Captain Randy" of the family camping trips and for his fun and loving antics.

The many hairstyles and outfits he wore showcased his amusing sense of humor and unique sense of style. He poured his love into his family through often requested handmade creations and magic show performances. His commitment to their happiness was unparalleled. Andy's personality and character brought perfect balance to Jenni. He was her person; her rock. They will forever be the love of each other's lives.

Andrews's love will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his wife, Jenni; children, Hadley, Audrey, Ellie "Eelee" and Cade; numerous foster children; mother, Lori Berg; grandmothers, Carol Byington and Ann Berg; uncle, Lane (Amy) Berg; and aunt, Robin (Robbie) Shue. He is also survived by many cousins, other relatives, and friends from across the country.

Andy was preceded in death by his father, Les; sister, Lindy; grandfathers, Robert Byington and Everett Berg.

Through these close family losses, Andy was the strength and support his mother, Lori, needed. She knows he has reunited with his family members now, which has brought her peace.

Andrew's greatest hope is that you also choose to love and to live your life in a way that matters.

A celebration of Andrew's life will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, December 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church (1314 E. Lexington Blvd., Eau Claire) with Pastor Patrick Patterson officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home (off Golf Road, one block east of Hwy. 93) and one hour prior to service at church on Friday. A private interment will be at a later date. Evergreen Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
