Anne Keller Obituary

Anne E. (Adams) Keller

July 16, 1939 - February 12, 2026

Anne E. Keller was born July 16, 1939, in Green Bay to Blanche (Viel) and George Adams, and died on February 12, 2026, at Marshfield Medical Center in Eau Claire.

Anne grew up in Sheboygan and graduated from Central High School in 1957. She earned a bachelor's degree from UW-River Falls. On September 2, 1961, she married Emmett Keller in Sheboygan. They lived in Madison for three years, where she taught French, after which they moved to Chippewa Falls in 1964. Anne was the secretary at Central Lutheran Church for 15 years and was the membership secretary for another 10 years. She enjoyed being part of Central's Freedom Ringers Bell Choir, which she organized in 2001. Anne taught French at the Chippewa Falls Middle School for eight years and later taught genealogy for the Chippewa Falls Schools Voyageur Program. She was a "lifetime member" of the Girl Scouts.

Anne was an active member of the Chippewa Falls community. She started the Chippewa County Genealogical Society in 1980, was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, participated in the Chippewa Historical Society's Past Passed Here, and volunteered at the Heyde Center. She co-authored three books on local history in order to help fund the History Center. She loved to travel, hosting several group trips to Europe and various corners of our country.

She is survived by her daughter Sarah (Frank) Hoefflin of Baden, Switzerland and their children, Christoph (Rachel) and Annikka Hoefflin; her brother, Richard (Diane) Adams of Rockton, IL; her sister, Patricia Baas of Chippewa Falls; and many nieces and nephews. She felt blessed by having a wonderful family and many good friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Emmett, in 2020, and her son, Paul, in 1984.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 20, at Central Lutheran Church, 28 E. Columbia St., Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service at church. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls, with Rev. Aaron Sturgis officiating. The interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in the Buffalo City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Chippewa County Genealogical Society, the Community Foundation of Chippewa County, P.E.O, Central Lutheran Church or the Girl Scouts.
