Derald "Dotch" Brunner, 77 passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 25 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Eau Claire.
Dotch was born to Edward and Irene (Fedie) Brunner on December 3, 1946, in Pepin, WI. He was raised on the family farm in Durand WI. He graduated from Durand High school and was drafted into the United States Army in 1967 to serve in the Vietnam war where he was awarded the Purple Heart. After returning from the war, he married Marjorie "Marg" Brantner on April 26, 1969, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Eau Claire. Together Dotch and Marg raised three wonderful sons.
Dotch enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and football. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandson.
Dotch was a devoted worker at Pope and Talbot/Cascades Paper Mill - Eau Claire, where he retired after 40 years of employment. Dotch was also a member of the American Legion Post 181, Durand, WI.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marg, and his son Gregory "Buck".
He is survived by his son, Dave (Shiela); son, Tony (Sheila); grandchildren, Kara (David) Lindblad, Julia (Cody) Hammerle, Shawn (Kelsey) Brunner, Jordan (Jake) Brunner, Morgan (Grace) Brunner and great-grandson, Holden Lindblad; sisters, Viginia (Dick) Fritz, Marlene (Jerry) Dammen and Rita (Ken) Lawrenz; brothers, Stanley (Lorna) Brunner, Mike (Karlan) Brunner; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12- 2 p.m. with a prayer service held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 5 at the West Chapel - Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services, 1405 N Clairemont Ave, Eau Claire, WI, with Christine Warloski officiating. Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, Eau Claire, WI., with military honors conducted by Durand American Legion Post 181.
