Donald Schesel Obituary

Donald B. Schesel

May 30, 1941 - November 3, 2025

Donald Bernard Schesel 84 of Stanley, WI. passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3rd, 2025 at home with family at his side.

He was born on May 30th, 1941 to Bernard and Delphine (Eslinger) Schesel in Stanley, WI.

Don graduated from Stanley High School in 1959. Following graduation he farmed with his Parents.

Donald was united in marriage to Judith Brenner on October 18th, 1969, following marriage they purchased the Schesel home farm and farmed there until retirement and selling the farm

to his oldest son Jeff and Bonnie.

Following retirement they built a new home over looking his home farm. What gave him great joy in his retirement years was to give advise and a helping hand to his sons and grandson with numerous farm activities, field work, fixing everything, a go getter, daily chores and much more. He really enjoyed family gatherings and a good meal. He also enjoyed hunting, going to open houses, thrift sales, auctions and simply vistiting with people. In most recent years Donald enjoyed "bumming" along with grandson Kenzie to many auctions or "picking up a good deal".

Don offered his time and service for 50 years to the Town of Edson, were he held numerous offices including Town Chairman, he also served on the FFA Alumni, was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Farmers Union and the Stanley-Boyd Alumni Association. When their kids were young Donald was an active member of the Edson Hilltop 4-H Club.

Donald is survived by his wife Judith Schesel; Sons Jeff (Bonnie) Schesel and Farron (Holly) Schesel; Daughters Holly (Ryan) Winkler and Sherri (Dave) Drozd;

Grandchildren Eli Winkler, Eva, Ella and Emma Schesel, Jaryn, Janelle, Jaella, Jayce, Jake, and Jason Schesel, Kenzie (Rachel) Drozd, Kayla (Cody) Wanta and Autumn Drozd;

Great Grandchildren Bentley and Chase Wanta; a Sister Jeanine Setzer; Sisters and brothers in law June (Louie) Mnikolaicik and Jerry (Candy) Brenner and also nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Parents Bernard and Delphine Schesel; Father and Mother in law LeRoy and Lucy Brenner and a Brother in law Allen Setzer.

In closing, we will remember Dad and his way of "running out of gas" in the back 80 acres and his loving smile. What put a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes was the Love of his Life and his pride and joy was watching his children and grandchildren grow.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 7th, 2025 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Boyd, WI. with Father William Felix officiating.

Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Town of Edson following the Funeral Mass.

A Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM Friday at the Church.
