Douglas Lee Johnson
Douglas Lee Johnson, age 82, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 24, 2025, at Otterbein Oakwood Nursing facility in Pemberville, Ohio. He was surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on June 5, 1942, in Slagle, West Virginia, Doug was one of 11 children born to Clyde Johnson and Ecie (Carroll) Johnson.
After graduating from high school, Doug enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he proudly served for 10 years with deployments in Italy, Korea, and Vietnam.
Doug married the love of his life, Patricia Irene (Baughman) Johnson, on August 24, 1968. Together, they were blessed with two children: Mark, Matthew residing in a number of communities in mid-Ohio including Bellville, Ontario, and Mansfield.
Following his military service, Doug embarked on a diverse career path, including roles as a real estate agent with Century 21, a manufacturing supervisor at Otterbacher Manufacturing specializing in food trailer production, an over-the-road van driver for expedited freight, and even as an entrepreneur operating his own food trailers across the Ohio County fair circuit.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ecie Johnson; his son, Mark Douglas Johnson (age 3); granddaughter Amanda (Murray) Blinkey; brothers Clyde (Barb) Johnson Jr., Lester Gene Johnson, and Johnny (Carmel) David Johnson; and sisters Goldie (Ora) Miller, Athaleen (Jim) May, Hazel Sellards, Wanda (Leon) Blackwell, Ernestine (Elba) Kirk, and Sharon Sue (James) Dunn, and Elise Johnson.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Patricia Johnson; his son Matthew Johnson and wife Erin (Smith); grandchildren Jacob Lewis, Raif Lee, Nora Louise, and Anne Ranae; daughter Penny (Murray) Noble and husband Douglas; and son Todd Murray and wife Liz.
Doug will be remembered for his kind heart, hardworking spirit, and dedication to his family. His legacy lives on in the love and memories shared by those who knew and cherished him.
