Jacqueline Call Obituary

Jacqueline "Jacquie" Call

January 16, 1943 - November 4, 2025

Jacqueline "Jacquie" Kay (Jones) Call, 82, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at MercyOne Medical Center of complications from PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy).

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, at Grand View Methodist Church, 3342 John Wesley Dr., Dubuque. A Memorial Service will follow at the church at 11 a.m., which will be livestreamed at www.grandviewdubuque.org and egelhofsiegertcasper.com. Interment will be at a later date at Union Cemetery in the township of Clear Creek, WI.

Jacquie was born January 16, 1943, in Eau Claire, WI, the daughter of Richard and Dagny "Dein" (Lien) Jones. She attended a one-room elementary school in rural Eau Claire County and high school at Eleva-Strum Central, where she met her future husband, Daniel "Dan" Call. They married on August 16, 1969, at the United Methodist Church in the township of Pleasant Valley, WI.

Jacquie went on to graduate with a degree in Medical Technology from Northwestern School of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, MN. She was employed as a Medical Technologist in hospitals and clinics in Eau Claire and Osseo, WI, as well as in Ohio and Oklahoma. She later worked as a cashier at Super One Foods in Superior, WI for 20 years. After relocating to Dubuque, Jacquie worked in childcare at Grand View Child Development Center until her retirement.

She was a member of Grand View Methodist Church, where she was active in the Sunday School, church dinners, the Fall Holiday Fair and the annual Crop Walk fundraiser. In Superior, Jacquie was also active in the Masonic organizations of Eastern Star and White Shrine.

Jacquie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who dearly loved her family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and camping. She also loved vacationing with family, and surprised everyone by swimming with whale sharks in the Caribbean while in her early 70's. She was proud of her Norwegian and Welsh heritage, and she and Dan were members of Sons of Norway while living in Superior.

In 2016, she began experiencing symptoms of PSP. In an effort to try to help to find a cure, she volunteered for testing in the PSP research program at the Mayo Clinic.

Jacquie is survived by her husband, Dan, of Dubuque; three children, Elizabeth (Michael Reynolds) Call, of Dubuque, Michael (Tara) Call, and their daughters, Keira, Gigi, and Vivian, of Glenview, IL, and Matthew Call and his son, Benjamin, of Dubuque; three siblings, Margaret "Peg" Hrynik, of Pepper Pike, OH, Richard "Rick" (Brenda) Jones, of Altoona, WI, and Nancy (Tom Pickerign) Wilson, of Eau Claire, WI; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Knox, of Perth, Western Australia; nine nieces and nephews; and many cousins and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law, father-in-law and three brothers-in-law, John Hrynik, Tom Wilson, and John Knox.

The family would like to thank Jacquie's primary physician, Dr. Ken Steffen, and all of the medical and therapy staff that have assisted her over the last several years for their thoughtful care. Memorials may be made to Grand View Methodist Church (https://www.grandviewdubuque.org/give) or to Cure PSP (https://www.psp.org).
