Jenna Elizabeth Murphy (née Sutphen), aged 46, passed away on September 5 after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer.
Born on March 31, 1978 in Eau Claire, WI to Dan and Carol (Husbands) Sutphen, Jenna graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School and later earned a degree in materials engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Jenna's biggest passion, first and foremost, was her family. Described by those who knew her as a wonderful mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend, Jenna was generous and kind. She dedicated much of her free time to her other passions, which included figure skating, tennis, and running. She was an active volunteer at Trinity Lutheran Church and with the Eau Claire school district, volunteering at Robbins Elementary School as well as representing ECASD on the state of Wisconsin's Parent Advisory Council.
Jenna will be deeply missed by a loving family: her husband, Dan Murphy; children, Kylie, Danny, Andrew, and Zoey Southard; stepchildren, Tyler (Jen) Murphy, Kaity (Tony) Scavone, Scott and Brett Murphy; parents, Dan and Carol Sutphen; sister, Kara (Mike) Anderson; brother, John (Margarete) Sutphen; nieces, Avery and Nora Anderson, and Sloane Sutphen; and grandchildren, Matteo and Isla Scavone.
Jenna's family would like to thank her caregivers from St. Croix Hospice and Cornerstone for their tender kindness and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the J. Murphy STEM Scholarship providing opportunities for local high school students to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, and math, at J Murphy STEM Scholarship Donation or tinyurl.com/3tzfrp6f.

I met Jenna through her scholarship she has set up with the Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation. Her passion to help kids to succeed after high school speaks to her kind heart and generosity. My heart and prayers are with her and her family.
