Lois Helen Schnorr (Vierbicher) passed away on June 4, 2025 with her family by her side. Lois, along with her twin sister Louise, was born April 23, 1938 at the family farmhouse near Gresham, Wisconsin to parents Roland and Coral (Fritz) Vierbicher. Throughout her life she reflected her origins, with the practicality of a farm child and the frugality shaped by the depression.
Lois graduated from Clintonville High School and earned her Nursing Degree in Milwaukee. While working at Clintonville hospital, she met a charming young Vicar at St. Martin Lutheran Church who was visiting patients. Lois and the Rev. Dan Schnorr were married in 1960. They moved briefly to Minnesota and then back to Shawano Wisconsin in 1962. Lois resumed her nursing career in Clintonville while balancing her roles as mother and Minister's wife. The family moved to Altoona Wisconsin in 1973 where Lois continued her career at Sacred Heart Hospital where she quickly became the Head Nurse on the psychiatric ward.
Lois was a passionate gardener, loving her flowers. She also was an accomplished seamstress, sewing clothes for herself and the family. She later used her sewing skills in her mission work, making countless quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Lois loved hosting her family, and especially her grandchildren, at the cottage on Long Lake where she kept the family happy with her cooking and baking skills.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Dan, parents Roland and Coral, sister Louise (Richardson) and brother Rollie. She is survived by sons Mark (Trudy), Paul and Jon (Gini); grandchildren Jonathan (Becca), Abby (Oscar), Ellie, Ben, Celia, Rose; great-grandchildren Antia, Luke, Niko; and sister-in-law Janice Schnorr.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wisconsin Public Radio or Wisconsin Public Television; the media that nurtured her mind and spirit for years.
The family would like to express gratitude to the caring staff at Deephaven Woods assisted living in Deephaven, MN and the nursing staff at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 19 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Altoona, Wisconsin. A luncheon will follow the service at the church.
