Margie Doyle
June 4, 1940 - November 16, 2025
Margie Ann (McNamara) Doyle, 85, formerly of Eau Claire, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, in Edina, Minnesota, surrounded by her four children.
Margie was born on June 4, 1940, to John and Betty McNamara, and grew up in Superior, Wisconsin. Her 48-year marriage to Dr. Thomas Doyle was one of parenting in partnership, traveling the world, admiring sunsets, and loving life.
Margie attended Superior Cathedral School and Viterbo College where she earned her degree as a registered nurse. She began her career as a surgical nurse at Children's Hospital Wisconsin in Milwaukee and ended it by Tom's side as a nurse at his practice, Western Wisconsin Urology, in Eau Claire. Margie was a true matriarch and supermom to her four children. She relished in their successes at all stages of their lives and was thrilled for them to start their own families, eventually welcoming seven cherished grandchildren. Margie was a woman of her hobbies: a gracious entertainer, a pontoon enthusiast, a jaunty golfer, a formidable bridge player, and a chardonnay afficionado – indeed a founding member of Eau Claire's own Team Chardonnay. She was a beloved friend, always the self-proclaimed listener, and made every guest of her Eau Claire, Bonita Springs, or Long Lake cabin homes feel the most welcome through her attention to detail and warmth. Margie will be remembered for the character she modeled until the end: a devoted mother and grandmother that valued any moment with her family, whether an extravagant holiday celebration or quiet night over cards, more than anything.
Margie is survived by her four children: Dr. Shannon Doyle (Dr. Gene Gullingsrud) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; Tom Doyle (Laura Pereira) of St. Paul, Minnesota; Daniel Doyle (Dr. Grainne Quinn) of Dublin, Ireland; and Katie Doyle (Don Decker) of Spring Lake, Michigan, and seven grandchildren: Sam Doyle, Marne Decker, Phoebe Gullingsrud, Jack Doyle, Lily Doyle, Delaney Decker, and Olivia Doyle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Tom Doyle, and her two brothers, Jack and Dan McNamara.
Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 am on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1712 Highland Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701 with Father Francis Thadathil officiating. Visitation will take place at Hulke Family Funeral Home on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 5-7 pm and at the church on Friday morning from 10 am until the time of service. Entombment will immediately follow the service in the chapel of the Resurrection Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to all the caregivers that supported Margie in her later years, especially special friends Fiona and Chris; they brought much laughter, peace, and comfort when she needed to be uplifted.
The family requests memorial be made to the Physicians Community Impact Fund of the Eau Claire Community Foundation (
