Peter Rinald Weiss, age 73 of Eau Claire passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026. He was born on February 16, 1952, in Allenton, Wisconsin, to Joseph and Verena (Bingen) Weiss. After graduating West Bend High School in 1970, Peter worked at Carlson Tool & Manufacturing in Cedarburg as an apprentice while attending Moraine Park Technical College in Fond Du Lac. He worked at Carlson Tool for 27 years, working his way up to a Lead Tool Maker and Supervisor. In 1998, his family moved to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin where he continued as a Tool Maker and Team Leader at Hutchinson Technology in Eau Claire.

Peter lived a life marked by his faith, work ethic, and love of country music. In 1974 he married Kathleen (Lindsey) at St Mary's in Barton, and together they raised four children. As a family they spent summers boating and camping, and winters skiing, mostly in northeastern Wisconsin. Peter also enjoyed spending his free time hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his daughters Jill (Dan) Schafer of Chippewa Falls, Laura (Doug) Remy of West Bend, Erin (Mitch) Perzichilli of Eau Claire, and his son Nathan (Tasha) Weiss of Chippewa Falls. Peter was blessed with nine grandchildren, Wyatt and Zeviah Schafer, Kearsten Remy, Lillian, Louie, and Lucy Perzichilli, and Natalee, Abigale, and Nora Weiss. He is also survived by his brothers Joe Weiss of West Bend, Ron (Cynthia) Weiss of Phoenix Arizona, Tom (Joan) Weiss of Richfield, and his sister Patty Backhaus of Phoenix Arizona.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Ron Backhaus.

One thing Peter was known for was his contagious laugh. The kind that fills up a room and once it started, everyone else followed, even if you didn't know the joke yet.

Graveside services will take place at 11:30 am on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery in the Brackett Township. A memorial service will take place at 11 am on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at St. Raymond of Penafort Catholic Church, E10455 Mallard Rd, Fall Creek, WI 54742 with Father Greg Bohren officiating. Visitation will take place at the church on that day from 9:30 am until the time of service.
