Scott Mahlum Obituary

Scott David Mahlum passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025 at Mayo Healthcare Center, Eau Claire, WI. The beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather was born to Dale and Kathryn (Crawford) Mahlum on February 9, 1963 in Eau Claire, WI.

Scott was raised in Mondovi, WI and attended Mondovi Public Schools prior to enrolling at UW-Stout where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Finance. Scott spent one year in California alongside his brother Steve, before returning to the area. Scott was employed as a Buyer for Menards and spent twenty-two years working at the Menards Corporate Office. He then became an independent buyer/marketer for 'As Seen on TV' advertising. This position took him to several places around the world including Hong Kong and other destinations. He was also the owner/operator of NKC Marketing. He became a member of the Alliance Bank Board and has served for over twenty years. He has been working as the Financial Advisor at Alliance Bank for the past seven years.

While Scott was a hardworking man, he was also a man of unmatched talents. He was gifted intellectually as well as athletically. Academics came quite naturally to him, and he had a somewhat "At Ease" way about him on things that others stressed over. He was always looking out for his client's best interests and gave solid, humble advice.

Scott was wed to Laurie Winberg in September 1991. To this union three children were born: Nick, Kenadie, and Connor. They later divorced. Scott was married to Tammi Van Brunt in 2022, and welcomed step-children Sekora and Mason to the family.

Scott was a 'character' to all who knew and loved him. His vitality for life was expressed in all he did. This was evident in debuts singing his favorite song, "Hot, Hot, Hot" by Buster Poindexter during Karaoke events. He also loved bowling, playing euchre, volleyball, softball or casually winning golf tournaments. He was also known as the 'Champion of Bar Sports' as he excelled at darts, pool and picking squares on sporting event boards. Scott was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and the Wisconsin Badgers.

Scott shared his talents with his family and the community. He brought joy to many people and was known to not have an enemy on earth. He coached Little League, Travel Basketball, Middle School Football, and Power Lifting. He was a member of the Mondovi Housing Authority and also Central Lutheran Church.

Scott is survived by his loving wife, Tammi Van Brunt; children, Nick (Amber) Mahlum, of Madison, WI, Kenadie (Ethan) Eberhardt of St. Paul, MN and Connor Mahlum of Janesville, WI; step-children, Sekora Stangret of Minneapolis, MN, and Mason Stangret of Eau Claire, WI; mother, Katie Mahlum of Mondovi, WI; brothers, Steve (Carrie) Mahlum of Paradise Valley, AZ, Brian (Laurie) Mahlum of Glendale, CA, and Jenny (Randy) Souza of Eau Claire, WI. Scott will be forever missed by his new grand-daughter Lennox Kathryn Louise Eberhardt.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Dale Roy Mahlum.

A Memorial Service and celebration of Scott's life will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Central Lutheran Church, Mondovi at 6:00 p.m. Friends and family of Scott are invited to a Memorial Gathering from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Honoring Scott by wearing attire representing one of his beloved WI sports teams, Superman or his favorite color, Blue, is encouraged but not required. Family and friends are invited to further celebrate at Buzz's Bar and Grill following his church service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Scott Mahlum Golf Foundation which can be sent to the Alliance Bank in his name.
