Steven Streich Obituary

Steven Streich

August 16, 1947 - December 31, 2025

Steven Jerome Streich, a man of unwavering kindness and adventurous spirit, passed away peacefully in his wife's arms on December 31, 2025, at his home in Altoona, WI under the care of Mayo Hospice and later St. Croix Hospice. Born on August 16, 1947, in Merrill, WI. He stood as a beacon of strength and compassion throughout his 78 years, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories and enduring love.

Steven's journey began as the beloved son of Donald and Betty Streich. He grew up in Merrill and graduated from Merrill Senior High School. Steven was drafted into the US Army in 1968. He served his country with honor during the Vietnam War, a period that shaped his character and fortified his resilience.

Steven embarked on a career as a meat cutter and manager for 45 years, a role in which he was respected for his skill and dedication. Steven's heart found its truest joy in his marriage to his loving wife, Karla Streich, who he met on a blind date and were married in 1967. They were married for 58 loving years. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, support, and mutual respect. Their love was a guiding light for their daughter, Lenna (Rod) Schrader, and their son, Matthew Streich, who preceded Steven in death.

Steven's legacy continued to flourish through his grandsons, Brennan (Chelsea) Schrader and Collin Schrader, who will always remember their grandfather's wisdom and the warmth of his embrace. He was a brother to Patti (Stephen) Levings, who has since passed, to Donna Ward, and to Carol (Gene) Jasinski. Each family member carried a piece of Steven's heart, and he theirs.

A devout Christian, Steven lived his faith through his actions, treating others with a generosity and love that mirrored his beliefs. His love for the outdoors was profound; hunting and fishing were not just hobbies but passions that allowed him to connect with nature and find peace. He was a dedicated sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Packers, Badgers and Brewers.

Those who knew Steven would describe him as loving and kind, a man whose adventurous spirit never waned. He approached life with a sense of wonder and an eagerness to explore, traits that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of his company.

Steven Jerome Streich will be remembered not just for the life he led but for the lives he touched. His absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to live with the same love and courage he exhibited every day. Though he has departed from this earthly realm, the essence of who he was-a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend-will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
