Thomas J. Wheatman, age 90 of Eau Claire, passed away Friday morning, February 28 at Care Partners Assisted Living in Eau Claire.
He was born in Eau Claire to William and Gretchen (Miller) Wheatman on January 29, 1935. Tom worked at Uniroyal until closing and then worked for the airport shuttle and McDonald's until the age of 89. He was an avid drag racer and motorcycle racer in his younger years. Tom and Kathy traveled in their motorhome visiting friends in many states. They spent several winter months in Maui.
He is survived by his sister, Mary-Ann (Herb) Rolecke in Stuart, FL; and friend of 60 years, Gary Bertech. Tom is preceded in death by his wife, Kathy; son, Matthew Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Cornerstone Christian Church, 310 West Polk Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701.
Memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 13 at Cornerstone Christian Church, 310 W. Polk Ave., Eau Claire. Pastor Justin Carter will officiate. Visitation will take place at the church Thursday morning (March 13) from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Private committal services will take place at a later time at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire.
