Donald Samuel Calhoun, 85, of Kittanning, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, at home on the family farm.
He was born Feb. 19, 1937, at home to the late Samuel L. and Lucia Melba Calhoun.
Don lived in the area all his life and resided on his family's homestead which has been in the family for 216 years. He retired from the United Parcel Service, after 33 years of service. He was a U.S Army veteran serving from 1956- 1958. Don was a member of Faith Cathedral in Kittanning. He was also a member of the Wild Turkey Federation, Pine Creek Sportsman Club and Special Friends Youth Program. He liked hunting, especially in the mid West, antique tractors, and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren sporting events and going on cruises.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Leona B. (Grafton) Calhoun; daughter, Sherri (Jay) Green, of Worthington; son, Gregory (Lisa) Calhoun, of Kittanning; daughter, Michelle (Jarid) Huth, of Kittanning; grandchildren: Erica (Kyle) Kirkpatrick, Evan Calhoun, Alecia (Dustin) Toy, Nicholas Huth and fiancée, Mariah Kephart and Jarah Huth; great-grandchildren, Emma Kirkpatrick and Landon Kirkpatrick; brother, Lee Calhoun, of Diamond. Ohio.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Melba (Schrecengost) Calhoun; sisters, June Calhoun and Jean Williams; father-in-law and mother-inlaw, Ralph and Thelma Grafton; brothers-in-law and sisters-inlaw: Kenneth and Gloria Walker, Ralph and Helen Grafton, Jr., Joseph Walter Grafton, Virginia and Harold Shaffer, Sarah and Larry Crytzer, Melvin Grafton and Beverly (Charles) Grafton.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Faith Cathedral, with additional visitation at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service with Pastor Neal Reedy officiating.
Interment is in the Center Hill Brethren Church Cemetery.
