Eugene C. "Tony" Wissinger, 84, of Shelocta, Pa., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021 at his home.

He was born July 1, 1937, in Smicksburg, Pa., the son of Merrill C. and Myrtle M. (Burrows) Wissinger.

Tony graduated from Elderton High School in 1955. He was a lifelong resident of the area and honorably served in the U.S. Army. He and his wife, Ruth, were the owners and operators of the restaurant and bar, Tony's Place, for eight years. He drove truck, worked for Adams Steel Erection and was a member of Operating Engineers Local No. 66 Union, where he received his 40- year pin. After retirement, he worked several delivery jobs, to occupy his time. He will be lovingly remembered as a hard worker and a good provider.

Tony was a member of Whitesburg United Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing pool and participating in monthly poker games with his friends. Tony will be remembered as being a loving husband, caring father and fun pappy who took his grandchildren for tractor rides.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth Marcella (Early) Wissinger, whom he married Aug. 31, 1960; daughters: Cheryl A. Watson and husband, Michael, of Kittanning, Shirley Jean Wissinger, of Shelocta, Cindy L. Jamison and husband, Jason, of St. Johns, Fla. and Julie E. Jones and companion, Aaron Troutman, of Pittsburgh; grandchildren: Sara Buffone and husband, Jerry, Jennifer Watson, Jacob Sharon, Alex Jamison, Abby Jamison, Bryce Jones and Addison Troutman; great-grandchildren: Jerry, Ethan and Olivia Buffone; and his brother, Earl Wissinger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Hazel Haggerty.

Funeral services will be held privately.

Burial will be in Whitesburg United Methodist Cemetery, Kittanning, Pa.

Arrangements are being handled by the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc.
