Joseph A. Goodman, Jr., 74, of Ford Cliff, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 26, 2022.
Born Aug. 12, 1947, in Kittanning, he was the son of the late Joseph A., Sr. and Martha (Dietz) Goodman.
Joe was a lifelong resident of Ford Cliff. He was a welder, working for Pullman Standard and Sheetmetal Local No. 12, prior to retirement. He also was one of the owners of Goodman's Ornamental Concrete and Bait & Tackle up until January, 2022.
He was a member of Ford City Sportsman's Club and a lifetime member of Ford Cliff Volunteer Fire Company in Ford Cliff. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, a great lure maker, a consummate gardener and loved taking his "canine daughter" Lucie for a ride every day. He cherished his time spent with his family.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Ellen (Cravener) Goodman; daughter, Marcia (Jason) Gaiser, of Ford Cliff; sons: William (Melissa) Goodman, of Ford Cliff, James (Sabrina) Goodman, of Kittanning and Joseph (Chastity) Goodman, of Waynesburg, Pa.; grandchildren: Nicholas (Shayla), Grace, Payton, Parker, Justin, Kylee and Madison; brothers, David (Elizabeth) Goodman, of Ford Cliff, and Michael Goodman, also of Ford Cliff; extended family and good friends; and his canine "daughter" Lucie.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at the Mantini Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Sixth Ave., Ford City.
Additional visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of transfer prayers at 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at Christ Prince of Peace with the Very Rev. Eric J. Dinga as officiant at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Orphans of the Storm, 11878 PA-85, Kittanning, Pa. 16201, or the charity of one's choice.
The family would like to thank the nurses and aides from Amedysis Hospice, and the doctors, nurses and staff from Hillman Cancer Center for the care and compassion that they gave our father and grandfather.
