Joseph M. Rizzo, 90, of Kittanning, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 15, 1931 in Cowansville to the late John and Frances (Gualteri) Rizzo.
Joseph was a devoted husband; he married Joyce (Luchesa) 67 years ago at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Cadogan. He served in the U.S. Army from July 31, 1952 to June 1954. Joe attended Kittanning High School and graduated in 1949. He was a cost accountant at Eljer Company from 1957 until he retired in 1993.
He was a member of St. Mary Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church in Kittanning and also a member of the Knights of Columbus for 50 plus years.
Joseph loved to golf, hunt with his sons and grandson. He never missed his grandchildren's sporting events. He enjoyed spending summers at Lake Chautauqua with his family, and he was always proud of his LA Dodgers.
He is the loving father of Lisa (Lee) Calarie, Joseph Rizzo, and John (Karen) Rizzo; proud grandfather of Johnny (Kiera) Rizzo, Natalie (Joseph) Cameron, Alana Rizzo, Adam Rizzo, Katie Beranty, Peter Calarie, and Anthony Calarie; great grandfather of Andrew, Anna, Ari, and Giovanni; 9 step great grandchildren Asher, Elliott, Oliver, Grayson, Marlowe, Lincoln Theo, Oakley, and Navy. He is also survived by his brother Michael (Corina) Rizzo; sister Alma Brochetti; brother in law Richard (Pam) Luchesa; sister in law Judy Carter; several nieces and nephews; and very dear family friend Eunice Young.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary and her husband Andrew Nigra; sister Lena; sister in law Frances Morda; brother in law Al Brochetti; twin daughters.
He lived his life with faith, kindness, integrity, and most of all love for his family.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.
Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00am until the time of parting prayers at 10:30 am, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church in Kittanning with Rev. Ronald Maquinana officiating.
Interment is in St. Joseph Cemetery.
