She was born June 18, 1914 in Fairmount City to Clyde C. and Villa Mae (Anthony) Sherman. Mrs. Lucas was a homemaker. She was a member of the Woodward Avenue First Church of God in Kittanning. Her other memberships were the Order of the Eastern Star 277; Order of the Amaranth 126; and Women of Church of God. She enjoyed reading; sewing; and many years of hunting and fishing with her late husband.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Ann Cowan and husband George of Kittanning RD4 and Karen Gail McClain of Kittanning RD5; two grandsons, D?Arcy Lee Cowan and wife Barbara and Adam Lee Cowan and wife Mishele of Kittanning RD4; one granddaughter, Noelle Lynn Simmons and husband Tom of Ford City RD2; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jim Sherman of Clarion. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph S. Lucas, who died Dec. 10, 1996; one son, Derwent Ralph Lucas, who died in infancy; one granddaughter, Beth Ann McClain, who died March 8, 1995; two brothers, Clyde C. Sherman Jr. and Joseph Grant Sherman, who died during World War II; and three sisters, Martha ?Hope? Lascoula, Mary Helen Francano and Virginia Mae Riott. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Bauer Funeral Home, 515 N. McKean St. Kittanning, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. G. Wayne Eckman officiating. Burial will be in the New Bethlehem Cemetery, Clarion County. The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Richard G. Laube Cancer Center; Kittanning Public Library; or the Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter.
