Kenneth Hopkins Obituary

Kenneth Arthur ""Hoppy"" Hopkins, 74, of Springfield, passed away at 11:10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, in Springfield.
Per his wish, there was no visitation or service. Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
Kenneth has a tombstone in Sheffield Cemetery in Sheffield. Memorials: Donor's choice.
Mr. Hopkins was born on June 10, 1939, in Seminary Township, the son of Cloyd Vaughn and Blenna Luella Noffsinger Hopkins. He married Savannah Sue Beck on June 6, 1959, in Clinton, Illinois. They divorced in 1987, and he married Ann Louise Huber McMinn on Feb. 25, 1989, in Springfield.
He was a 1957 graduate of Deland-Weldon High School. He began working at the age of 11 as a farm hand. He was employed for 24 years at Revere Copper and Brass in Clinton and also worked five years as a DeWitt County corrections officer. He started Hopkins Lawn Care in Clinton and moved the business to Springfield in 1990, retiring in 2000. Kenneth enjoyed model building, model railroading, his lawn and gardening, and being outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, of Springfield; his son, Barry ""Scott"" Hopkins of Clinton; daughter, Becky Sue Jackson of Clinton; a stepdaughter, Stacy Ann McMinn of Springfield; one grandson, Daeven Jackson of Urbana; three siblings, Carol and her husband Richard Brown of Downs; Virginia Hopkins of Springfield, Va., and Jeanne Ann and her husband Michael Fahrenbacher of Elk Grove Village, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Melody Jill Hopkins.
