JEANNETTE FRICKE
Jeannette Odell "Nette" Fricke, 77, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at St. Luke's East Hospital.
"Nette", as she was affectionately known, brought joy and laughter to all that had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey through life was one marked with care, compassion and unwavering love for her family and friends. Jeannette's passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived and the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was born on September 24, 1948 to Jack and Jeannette O. (Carlisle) Yates in Yreka, California. She has lived in Dunsmuir and Redwood City CA and Lansing KS. Nette attended the San Mateo Community college. She was a devoted military spouse, mother and grandmother. Her proud achievement was receiving a "Challenge Coin" award from the Chief of Staff, US Army, while serving Red Cross at Fort Bragg North Carolina. She was a member of the St. Francis de Sales parish, VFW Aux. 12003, Friends of the Lansing library, and the Kansas City Chiefs Red Coaters.
Jeannette's legacy lives on through the love of her life, Jim Fricke (husband of 56 years), her sons James R Fricke Jr. (wife Kelly) and Aaron Edward Fricke (wife Brenda). Her love for family will always be seen through the hearts of her grandchildren, Sam Racine, Dakota Fricke, Vaughn Racine, Tanier Karigan, Ilaria Fricke, Lee Sutcliffe, Kaydyn Fricke and Amara Fricke. You can catch a glimpse of Jeannette in the eyes and the smiles of her great grandchildren, Asia Racine, Arthur Racine, Jimmie Racine, Ashton Racine, Aiden Fricke and River Goldie Karigan. Foster family (Mirande), Margaret, mother, sisters Mel Mirande, Lisa Lund, Kathleen Thompson and Elisha Prather. Brothers, Brad Prather, John Mirande and James Mirande.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Jeannette Yates, foster father John Mirande and her brothers Jack and Jerry Yates and sister Maureen Young.
A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 10:00 am will be Monday, October 20, 2025 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic church (900 Ida Street, Lansing, Ks) with Fr. Bill McEvoy, officiating. Graveside service will follow at Leavenworth National cemetery (150 Munchie Road, Leavenworth, Ks) at 11:00 am.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday October 26, 1:00 PM 4:00 PM at the Lansing Community Center, 800 1st Terrace, Lansing Kansas 66043.
Although Jeannette's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to live through the family and friends that she held dear to her heart.
Memorials in her name may be directed to the Ronald McDonald House.
