JESSICA ABBOTT

JESSICA P. ABBOTT 1951 - 2023 Jessica P. Abbott, 72, St. Joseph, Mo., passed away Friday, July 28, 2023. She was born April 3, 1951, to Jesse Slavens and Darline Yelenick in Topeka, Kan. Jessica married Phillip G. Abbott on July 8, 1981. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary 56 and Eagles Auxiliary 55. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, crafting, and music, especially with her family. She was preceded in death by her fathers Jesse Slavens and Archie Yelenick; brother Norman Slavens; and son George Abbott. Survivors include her mother Darline Yelenick; husband Phillip; children Michael Abbott, Jennifer Abbott, and Chantel Pekarcik; grandchildren Alex, David, Alexandria, Zachary, Madi, Nathan, Riley, and Graylon Abbott, and Chris and Leah Pekarcik; and siblings J.C. Slavens and Nancey Parsons. Those considered family and friends of her were blessed, for she was greatly beloved. A Celebration of Life will be held at Eagles Lodge, 330 S 20th St, Leavenworth, KS 66048, on August 26 from 1 - 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Association for Cancer Research.
