LAWRENCE SCHWINN 06/17/1938 - 07/21/2025 Lawrence "Larry" Robert Schwinn passed peacefully into the arms of God on July 21, 2025, at the age of 87. Larry is survived by his children, Amy (Steve) Garner, Spring Hill, Tenn., and Keith (Sherri) Schwinn, Lansing, Kan.; grandchildren, EmilyAnne, Adam, Andrew, James, Erika and his bonus grandson, Dominic; in-laws, Patty Schwinn, Leavenworth, Kan., Richard Sumpter, Overland Park, Kan., Micki Sumpter (Lauri Fernald), Mt Desert, Maine, Mary Moldenhauer (Mark Giesfeldt), Oregon, Wis., and Donna Sumpter, Parkville, Mo.; and many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents Adam and Margaret Schwinn; his wife of 58 years, Sharon; his brothers, Jim and Jerry Schwinn; sister, Elsie Schwinn Farrell Harbour; and in-laws, John Sumpter, Judy Sumpter and Dave Moldenhauer. Larry was born on June 17, 1938, in Springdale, Kan. He graduated from Easton High School in 1955. He then enlisted into the United States Army proudly serving his great country. When he returned he had careers in insurance and as a building maintenance engineer for the Department of Defense; after retirement he worked as a car salesman for Zeck Ford and even earned his realtor license to work with Sharon at Reilly and Son's. Larry and Sharon wed on April 23, 1966, in Leavenworth, where they raised their beloved children, Amy and Keith, and resided until their passing. He was a man of great faith, a handyman like none other, enjoyed all things with wheels, loved history and was a strong supporter of everything his grandkids participated in. Larry will be remembered for his quick wit and fun personality. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Twin Oaks Independent Living and Pullman Place Restaurant where they loved him as family. They are also grateful to his church and this whole community who he was so proud to be a part of. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. with the Rosary prayed at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025, at R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial began at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025, at Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Phil Winkelbauer as celebrant. Burial followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Xavier Catholic School.
