LILLIAN SCOTT Obituary

LILLIAN SUSAN SCOTT Lillian Susan Scott of Leavenworth, Kan., died Monday, July 29, 2024, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. Lillian was born in Coburg, Bavaria, Germany, the daughter of Walter Parr and Inge Weckel Parr. She emigrated to the United States with her parents when she was five years old and became a naturalized U.S. citizen shortly thereafter. She graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1966 and went to work at Hallmark Cards soon after. Her career at Hallmark lasted 36 years. She started out in handwork before becoming a quality inspector and eventually a receiving inspector. She finally retired in 2002 when her increasing disabilities made it difficult for her to continue working. She met her future husband, Gerald, at work. They dated for a year and were engaged for a year before marrying on August 15, 1969. He survives her of the home. They had two daughters, Aimee in 1977 and Christina in 1982. They also survive her of the home. She was an avid Chiefs fan and never missed a game if it was on TV. Her favorite players were Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes. She was a major foodie. Before her disabilities made it difficult for her to leave home, she loved going to restaurants and eating out. She also loved animals, especially dogs, and was a regular contributor to ASPCA. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Ann Parr. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her sister Lisa Allen and husband Tom of Leavenworth, and her brother Walt Parr of Lansing, and many well-loved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday August 6 from 5 - 7 p.m. at First Christian Church, 130 N. 6th Street, Leavenworth. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 7 at 11 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA or Hope Pet Rescue in Leavenworth.

Lisa and Walt ....so sorry to hear about Lillian..I know this is very difficult losing another sister and such a sweet person....I remember her and Mary Ann babysitting a few times for me and Cindy and Darin when we lived in Leavenworth as grade school kids....I remember them both as being very sweet and one year they bought me and Cindy a real fancy satin slip for christmas from Bakers Dept Store where they worked at that time when they were probably in high school....We wore those slips daily under our uniforms at St Casimer's Catholic School for years until we grew out of them...My mom's sister thinks I resemble Lillian and I always thought so too...I wish I could have got to know her and all your family more than when I was a child at Grandma Parr's Christmas Get-Togethers in the 60's and 70's....I recommend you and Walt and any other family members listen to Bott Radio if you get a chance....It originated in Kansas City in 1962 and is now Nationwide.....This station is a Great Help for anyone in your situation....I listen to it everyday all day and have for several years now and it really helps me get through life like nothing else I have ever found.....I hope you give it a try....It can really help....Their website is bottradio.com and it should tell you where to listen to it locally....Take Care and I will include you in my daily prayers...Your cousin Ronda Parr Burris.
