Catherine Lillian "Cattie" Newton, 83, Holy Cross, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017 at the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary.
She was born on Aug. 24, 1934 in Nelson County. She formerly worked as a dietician at the Loretto Motherhouse.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Charles Otho "Bud" Newton; one infant son, Charles Otho Newton Jr.; her parents, Thomas Leslie Clark Sr. and Mary Roxie Sims Clark; and four brothers, Junior, Wally, Frank and Joe Clark.
Survivors include: two daughters, Joyce Lawson (James) of Cox's Creek and Lisa Hutchins (Doug) of Saint Francis; nine sons, Roger Newton, Timmy Newton (Arlene) and Keith Newton (Lisa), all of Springfield, Ricky Newton (Donna), Calvin Newton, Terry Newton and Dale Newton (Susan), all of Loretto, and Les Newton and Rob Newton, both of Louisville; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 59 New Haven Road, Loretto, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Bryan Lamberson will preside.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. by Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Memorials may go to Alzheimer's Association, Kaden Tower, 6100 Dutchmans Lane, STE 401, Louisville, KY 40205-3284.
Pallbearers are Ricky Newton, Calvin Newton, Jessie Newton, Eric Newton, Michael Newton, Chuckie Newton, Adam Newton, and Ryan Newton.
Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
