To the family and friends, my deepest heartfelt condolences and sympathy.

Sir,
I didn´t know you personally but I´ve spent many years thinking about how I would even begin a message to you and your family. I suppose I should say that I´m honored to have cared for you in the O.R. in your final moments. The team from overseas and I still think about you. We think about the honor you brought to the uniform and our military. We´ve run races in your honor, had you in many of our prayers and never forgot you especially on days like today, Veterans Day. I hope someday you and I can meet in heaven and we can exchange a salute, have a talk, and share a couple smiles. You obviously moved mountains of achievements before 07´ and will always be regarded as one of the biggest hero´s in my life. I hope all my days I honor you by living honorably in your heavenly eyes. You will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace sir. Till we all meet again in heaven.

Miss ya brother. My fondest memory of you was when we all randomly went salsa dancing (don't ask) at that shady club. While all of us were sitting at a table bored out of our minds, there you were, on the dance floor without a care in the world.

Dancing like no one was watching.

It's how I'll always remember you.

I want to see you find true love. I want to watch as you find a career that makes you happy. I want to see you share fun times with your brother and watch as you guide him through life. Another year has passed and your memory stays forever strong in my heart and in my mind. Never a day goes by that I don't think of you. I continue to shed tears and have a ache of your memory etched in my soul. Today is the anniversary of the day I kissed you on the forehead and loaded you in the helo. The world lost not only a great Soldier but no doubt, a great man. I find comfort in knowing that you are at peace now and surrounded by loved ones. May your family that is left behind, have peace during the holidays and especially at this time.

Every year around this time you come to mind. The worse event in the deployment, the worse event I've ever experienced. In just six months, I'll see your picture on Facebook. Fellow Soldiers, sharing the memory of you. Yet now, six months prior, every year, you pop into my head. I wish you were still with us. I wish that I could change time.

I don't think the mortality of service set in my mind quite so much as the day we lost Cpt Snyder. I remember his debriefs after patrols as different from everyone else who came through the TOC. He had a heart that no one else could match. The person who cared the most. It still bothers me that he's gone. The person who cared the most.

They're of minimal comfort-- but better than none. Occasionally someone posts a photo of you I've never seen and what joy that brings me! I think of you daily and ponder what might have been. It has been four years that three Army Brothers has been gone out of our lives, (Adam P. Snyder: Eric J Hernandez and my Son DeWayne L. White) but not forgotten. I keep thinking of all three of you plus the others who has died for our freedom, When I see your other battle buddies come back home from the battle field I look to see if you three are on the plane with them and my heart sadden when I don’t see you nor others including my son in the crowd. But because I have a great connection with God in Heaven, I see each of you as the door opens to bring the others home to their family and friends and doing so you three as well as others who have died fighting for this country are there to pat them on the back saying ” job well done soldiers” Capt. To any of Adam's friends or family who are reading this:
Please know that, at the time of his passing, he was NOT alone. I was part of the medical team who cared for him in Tikrit, Iraq and can assure you that he was, at all times, surrounded with loving and encouraging words, touched with gentle hands and cared for with the UTMOST effort. We talked to him, touched him, made sure he was not in pain and surrounded him the entire time he was in our care. People who weren't even on shift took turns checking in, sitting by his bed and just trying to "be" there. I was also the duty driver the night we put him on the plane, bound for a fixed facility and a higher echelon of care. CPT Judith (Judy) Wright (who has also posted here), SPC John Hagen and I escorted the ambulance to the plane, personally helped transfer Adam onto it and made sure they knew they had a hero on that transport. They were getting ready to take off and I leaned down and touched his shoulder. The last words he heard from me were, "Be strong, Adam. Hang in there. We love you". I know it does not help, because you don't have Adam. But I also hope you will always know that there were people half a world away who FOUGHT for your loved one, who cared for him as best they could and who still remember him daily. Bless you in your sorrow, and thank you for your sacrifice. - SGT Journey Hurst, 325CSH
