Albert Cousins Obituary

Albert Lucian Cousins March 5, 2010 GREENVILLE, GA — Dr. A. Lucian Cousins, 65, of Greenville and West Point, died Friday, March 5, 2010, of complications of kidney failure at home after a hospitalization at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham. Albert Lucian Cousins was born in Trenton, Georgia to the late A. Roy Cousins and Martha Page Cousins and grew up in the St. Mark's Community in Meriwether County. He graduated from Greenville High School and North Georgia College. After graduation from the Medical College of Georgia he completed his internship, residency and fellowship in cardiology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Dr. Cousins was board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1974-1976 in Philadelphia and Maine before returning to the area to private practice. He worked for over 33 years as a cardiologist in LaGrange, the Valley and surrounding area Dr. Cousins was an avid sportsman and had a love of agriculture, history, politics and certainly his family. Survivors include his loving wife, Diane Heath Cousins; his children, Dr. Holley Cousins Meers, Lucian (Luke) Hollingworth Cousins, Albert L. Cousins, and Lucy Elizabeth Simpson; a brother, Dr. W. Lamar Cousins; four grandchildren, Lucian (Luca) Hollingsworth Cousins, Jr., Caroline Page Meers, Katherine Cullen Meers, and Abigail Drake Meers; and stepchildren, Sarah Auler and Jeremy Auler. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Union Baptist Church in the St. Marks Community of Meriwether County, with interment in the Luthersville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 Sunday afternoon.
