Columbus, GA- Albert G. "A.G." Grantham Jr., 90 of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2015.
Funeral Service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Porter Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating. Family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service.
Albert G. Grantham Jr. was born in Collins, Mississippi to the late Olivia Rogers Grantham and Albert G. Grantham Sr. After graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Navy where he served his country faithfully during WWII in the Pacific campaign with an honorable discharge. After his military service he attended and graduated from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi. Mr. Grantham's greatest pleasure was serving at his church, First Baptist of Columbus, where he was a faithful member since 1968, serving as a deacon, working to serve his community through meals on wheels, the food closet and a member of the Bob Scarbrough Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Kiwanis Club for many years. A.G. will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is also preceded in death by his son, Gary Mark Grantham, and brother, Roger D. Grantham.
A.G. leaves his legacy to his wife of 67 years, Helen Grantham; children, Al (Montea) Grantham, Derrell (Susan) Grantham, and Craig (Teal) Grantham; daughter-in-law, Jeri Grantham; Siblings: Janie Latare, Katherine Blades, Charles (Barbara) Grantham, Rachel King and sister-in-law, Juanita Grantham; grandchildren: Dan (LaCretia) Brown, Kenley (Melissa) Clark, Ginger (BJ) Ades, Grant Grantham, Susanna (Adam) Ames, Roger Craig Grantham, Kourtney McAhren, and Mitchell Grantham; four great-granddaughters; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In Lieu of flowers the family would like for contributions to be made to the Food Closet at First Baptist Church of Columbus, P.O. Box 828, Columbus, GA 31902.
