Hi mom, how are you? I honestly don't know what I'm feeling. It's been almost 7 years since you died, almost the whole second half of my life.

When I'm alone I think 'What is it like to have a mom?' It's been so long. My memories are so fuzzy. I can't even remember your voice anymore. Does that make me a horrible daughter?

In school, (I'm about to be a freshman now) I hear people talking about their moms. That they love them, hate them, or just don't care about them. When they say mom jokes about you I always respond with, "My mom passed away" and they just give me a pitiful look and say "Oh, I'm so sorry." Then they just walk away. It makes me think again. 'What is it like to have a mom?'

Mother's day comes and I just watch other people give their mom a gift and a hug. There's all kinds of videos everywhere. I watch them to try and understand a mother's love for her child, but to no avail.

I probably won't ever truly understand what it's like, but maybe when I'm gone and see you again, I will. Until then I will have to live on wondering.

I hope you are doing well mom.

Sincerely,
Jessika
