Andy Michael Avant September 16, 1954- May 17, 2008 PHENIX CITY, AL— Andy Michael Avant, 53, of Phenix City, AL died Saturday, May 17, 2008 in Columbus, GA. Graveside funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Lakeview Memory Gardens, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Phenix City. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12 noon until 2:30 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Avant was born September 16,1954 in Columbus, GA, son of Catherine Robinson Avant Carpenter of DeFuniak, FL and the late William D. Avant. He was employed by the Kodak/Ryder Warehouse, Columbus, GA and was an avid University of Alabama football fan. Survivors other than his mother include his wife, Denise Avant of Phenix City, AL; daughter, Jennifer Holloway of LaGrange, GA; son, Dakota Rash of Phenix City, AL; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Jerry Sherman of DeFuniak, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Linda Strickland of Tampa, FL; sister, Sue Chism of Jacksonville, FL; stepfather, Rotain Carpenter of DeFuniak, FL; mother-in-law, Mattie Rash and father-in-law, Bobby Rash; granddaughters, Brittany Dockery and Mattie Holloway; three sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. I'm sorry to hear about Andy,I really liked him in School.He was a wonderful person. My prayer are with you and your family.I hope this is the Andy Avant that went to Smith Station. If not I'm sorry.But he is my age.and I rally think this is him.Please let me know.
