She is originally from Baton Rouge, La., and attended Pacelli Catholic High School in Columbus, Ga. She has helped build strength in the muscles of disabled children all over metro Atlanta for over 30 years. Barbara was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for over 25 years and her four children, Elizabeth, 24, Joanna, 22, Emily, 21, and Robbie, 17, attended school there as well. Barbara has served on the Country Squire Women's Club committee for years and it is due in part to her that our streets are lined with beautiful luminaries each holiday season. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. All of Barbara's immediate family and some close friends will be participating in her honor. Dear Bob, the children and family,

It seems like only yesterday, when Merrill and Robbie both were in Mrs. Smith's Kindergarten class at IHM, that I came to know Barbara.

We are so saddened that our community is now without Barbara. She has touched many lives, and her influence was felt by so many. Perhaps her greatest and most enduring legacy can be found in the wonderful children you two have raised. They carry her heart forward and will always remind us of Barbara.

We wish you all peace, serenity and love.

I am so sorry to hear of Barbara's passing. My sisters and I called her our hand-me-down friend. She was in Mary Janes's class at Pacelli, on Maureen's hall at UGA and my roommate in Atlanta for a short while. She was such a good friend we just all shared her. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Bob,
I am so sad to learn about Barbara. She was so much a part of our physical therapy class. I will let the class know. I have walked 10 years for the 3 day Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I never knew Barbara had cancer. I wish I could have done more.
Please take care,

I am deeply saddened to hear about the death of Barbara. I know how difficult this must be for all of the family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Barbara was such a kind, gentle soul. I remember when Barbara and I were selling loaves of bread to raise funds for the March of Dimes. She was so enthusiastic and filled with desire to touch each person that opened their door with love of neighbor. She sold a lot of bread!

That spirit of giving carried over into her adult life by dedicating herself to helping disabled children. What a wonderful inspiration she was in this journey of life.

Please accept my condolences on the death of Barbara. To all of her family, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, so very near.

May God bless you and your family during this time and always,

Bob and the children,

This is such a very great shock to hear the news of Barbara's passing. She was such a warm and hospitable and supportive person and Hazel enjoyed the years of work and friendship with her. We will keep her and all of you in our thoughts and prayers and wish you very much strength in these troubled days.

Our sincerest condolences and best wishes to each of you,
