January 29, 1937 - September 7, 2021
Columbus, Georgia - Bernice Louise Butts passed away quietly at her home on September 7,2021 at the age of 84. Bernice was the daughter of the late Shedrick D. Thornton and Caliona Gardner Thornton. She retired from the Medical Center and in her later years she served as a private duty nursing assistant. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, September 16, 2021 at Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM at the Charles E. Huff International Funeral Home located at 927 - 5th Avenue, Columbus. She left behind to cherish her memories Charlie Butts (Nicki), Oceanside, CA, Patricia Butts, Yolanda Kent, Vicki Watson (Wesley) all of Columbus, and Debra Butts, Patterson, New Jersey. Her loving grandchildren, Alex Green (Tyrell) Courtney Kent, Joshua Kent (Shanette), Noah Kent, Brittany Butts, Justin Butts, Sarina Watson, Michael Butts, Christopher Butts (Marislo), Christina Foreman (Alexander), Keena Butts, Sharonda Butts; 11 great-grandchildren, a sister Shirley Dewhart (Willie), and an aunt Rosie Gardner, Cusseta; and many nieces and nephews.

I would like to send my condolences to the family. I use to live around the street from them when they lived on Mc Cartha Dr. back in the 80's. I can remember when she got off work she would tell all the kids "Go home where your mama pay rent at" lol. Rest in Peace Ms. Butts
