Brenda Lewis Obituary
October 12, 1948 - April 14, 2022
Columbus, Georgia - Ms. Brenda Gail Lewis, 73, native of Columbus, GA passed Thursday, April 14, 2022 at her home. She was daughter of the late Charlie and Annie Mae Howard Darden. Brenda was a member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a past president of the Usher Ministry. She selflessly volunteered with the Partners in Christ Caring Ministry, Singles Ministry and Day Care Ministry. Brenda was a proud 1966 graduate of Carver High School. After graduating high school, Brenda moved to Boston, MA in 1967. She entered the work force as a clerk at the Prudential Insurance Company. She would eventually moved to the Houghton Mifflin Company, where she rose through the ranks to become a Production Manager in the Trade Division. In recognition of her achievements in the workplace, she was a recipient of the Boston YMCA Black Achievers Award in 1981. In 1992, Brenda would move back to Columbus to help care for her mom, Annie Mae Darden. Upon returning to Columbus, she would continue her career in the publishing industry by working at Litho-Krome, a Hallmark Company subsidiary as a production supervisor. With the closure of Litho-Krome, Brenda would move to and eventually retire from TSYS Corporation where she worked in the Card Services division until May 2016. Brenda was preceded in death by one sister, Gloria Akinduro and one brother, Rickey Darden. Her survivors include: one son, Ronald (Margaret) Lewis, II; nephew, Stephen Dotun Akinduro; one brother, Jackie Darden; one sister, Mary Ferguson; two grandchildren, Jackson and James Lewis; ex-husband, Ronald Lewis, SR; aunts, Ellen Weaver and Jimmie Lee Barnes, and a host of in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Sconiers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. Family will assemble at the funeral home Friday at 2:00 PM and visitation for the public will be from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

I just found out tonight that Brenda passed away. I am so sorry that she won't be with us anymore. Brenda & I worked very close at Litho-Krome. She will be missed.
