Britton "Britt" Mims Ware, Sr. November 3, 1910 December 23, 2003COLUMBUS, GA - Britton "Britt" Mims Ware, Sr., 93, of Columbus died Tuesday, December 23 at Doctor's Hospital.Graveside serviceswill be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, December 27 in Riverdale Cemetery with Dr. Glenn A. Martin officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Macon Road. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Mr. Ware was born November 3, 1910 in Marvyn, Ala., son of the late Charles David Ware and Guy Sistrunk Ware. He was a member of Wynnton United Methodist Church and a member of the Elks Club and the Seratoma Club. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Talbot Ware. Mr. Ware attended Industrial High School in Columbus. After he graduated high school, he had many ventures in Georgia and Florida. Mr. Ware worked with the Columbus Credit Bureau as assistant manager, Hofflin & Greentree Clothiers as a salesman, owner of Standard Oil Service Station in Columbus, Hecht Company as a salesman, owner of Standard Oil Service Station in St. Simon's Island, business partner with Greentree & Associates, Tampa Bay Marina in Tampa, Fla., as manager, Kirby Men's Wear in Tampa, Fla., as a salesman, and owner of Ware Distributing Company in Tampa, Fla. Survivors include his son, Britton M. Ware, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth Cleveland Ware of Columbus; one sister, Mary Ware Matthews of Columbus; three grandchildren, Christine Ware Steubing and her husband Sidney Steubing of Dunlay, Texas, Britton M. Ware, III and his wife Elizabeth Green Ware of New Braunfels, Texas, and Stephen M. Ware and his wife Francis Salinas Ware of Houston, Texas; four great grandchildren and several nieces and one nephew.
