Upatoi, GA- Caleb Short, 17, of Upatoi, GA died Monday, January 4, 2016 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 11, 2016 at Cascade Hills Church 727 54th St. Columbus, GA 31904 with Pastor Reggie Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Green Acres Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones on Sunday evening from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Caleb was born May 28, 1998 in Columbus, GA the son of Robert Short of Upatoi, GA and the late Gloria Jean Averett Short. He was a junior at Shaw High School. He loved playing basketball and football with his neighborhood and YMCA friends; Caleb was a devout Georgia Bulldog fan. He enjoyed traveling with his family and friends to watch the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Hawks, and Atlanta Falcons. Caleb was an avid sports fan and enjoyed collecting and preserving footwear and sports memorabilia. Caleb also loved to stay active by working out in the gym with his dad.
He is preceded in death by one uncle and three aunts; most recently his mother, Gloria Jean Short, his niece Gianna Lindsey and Uncle Robert Harold Averett.
He is survived by his father, Robert Short, his sisters, Shameika Averett of Ft. Mitchell, AL, Lindsey (Joseph) Roberson of Albany, GA, Robyn Short Bush of Dallas, TX and Nichole Scott of Las Vegas, NV, his brothers, Kevin Jones of Columbus, GA, and Robert Short, Jr. of Panama City, FL, and paternal grandmother, Mosetta Nutall of Indianola, MS and a host of other family and friends.
