Fortson, Georgia - Mrs. Clara Elizabeth Young Dempsey age 82 of Thomaston Ga, formerly of Fortson, Georgia, died Monday April 28, 2025, at her daughter's residence.
Mrs. Dempsey was born on July 29, 1942, in Hogansville, Georgia, to the late James Young and the late Mary "Nettie" Ogletree Young. She worked as an Area Manager of School Nutrition in Muscogee County; she was a member of the Georgia Nutrition Association and was a member of Bellwood Baptist Church in Columbus. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Dempsey.
Survivors include her daughter, Laura Stokes of Thomaston, grandchildren, Bradley Stokes and Grady Stokes.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. from Bellwood Baptist Church in Columbus.
The family has requested that those attending the service wear bright colors or floral prints in memory of Mrs. Clara.

Ms. Clara was a very special lady inside and out. She was my area manager most of the time i have been in school nutrition. She was always there for me anytime i needed anything. She was a one of a kind lady and will be deeply missed. Thank you for all you did for SNP! Love you Ms. Clara

Mrs. Clara was an awesome wonderful person. From the first I met her she made me laugh. She was a beautiful person and had a loving spirit. I will truly miss her. My condolences to the family. Be strong and keep the faith. God sent us an Angel to spend time and enjoy while she was with us. So she just went back home in order to keep an watchful eye on everyone who life she touch.
