Columbus, Georgia - David Allen Nelson, 58, of Phenix City, AL passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Piedmont Northside Hospital. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, October 14, 2021 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory.
David was born January 16, 1963, son of Ronnie Nelson and Edith Loflin Ortenzi. He worked in AFLAC's IT department as well as helping his wife, Kim; operate her business Bloomwoods Flowers and Gifts. He was a member of Cascade Hills Church. David was a loving husband and father who loved fishing, hiking, and metal detecting.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Knotts Nelson of Phenix City, AL; son, Trace Nelson of Phenix City, AL; father Ronnie Nelson (JoAnne) of Phenix City, AL; mother Edith Ortenzi of Phenix City, AL; step sisters,Kristie Pearce, Harvey Pearce, Stephanie Griffin, Shannon Griffin, nieces and nephews, Norton, Elizabeth, Skyler, Sydney.
Flowers will be accepted, those so desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association at wwwalzfdn.org

I´m so sorry to hear of David´s passing. I remember metal detecting and motorcycle riding with him years ago and how much I enjoyed it. Sincere condolences to the family.
