Columbus, GA- Funeral service for Mr. David Rutherford, 57, of 1516-28th St. who passed on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 will be conducted on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at New Providence Baptist Church, 5227-14th Ave. at 12:00 Noon. Rev. Gerald Parker, pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in Green Grove Cemetery, Lumpkin, GA. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. according to the Charles E. Huff's International Funeral Home. Mr. Rutherford was born January 16, 1956 in Jersey City New Jersey to Rudy" The Deuce" Rutherford and Shirley Smith Rutherford. He followed in the tradition of his father known locally as The Deuce in Radio. He was employed in the Music Industry as a D.J on Magic 101.3 in Columbus, GA Survivors include his step mother, Delores Williams(King), Columbus, GA; two sisters, Elena Ruthford(Frank), Plainfield, N.J. and Valerie Rutherford, Dallas, TX; two brothers, Glen Rutherford, Plainfield, N.J. and Gregory Rutherford, Atlanta, GA; three nieces, Tanya Rutherford, Mia Rutherford and Kianna Pickney; two nephews, Xavier Rutherford and David Rutherford and many other relatives and friends.

I have known David for several years and you could not have known a better person. I saw David two weeks ago and had a short conversation with him. Life is short and you never know when you will be called to serve the LORD. My prayers and condolences to the family during your time of sorrow. Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

I have known David Rutherford, since he was Morning Announcer at WFDR-FM, Manchester, Ga. I was a pallbearer at his father's funeral and know his brother, Glenn, very well. I regret and mourn this tragic loss. May God bless David Rutherford's family and friends.
